Should a LinkedIn post open with a question?

In five of six datasets, posts that open with a question do worse. The gap runs from −8% to −34%. A question at the end of the post barely matters.

The measurements

  • MagicPost (1.18 million posts): 19 versus 29 median likes, that is −34%.
  • LinkPost (516,144 posts): −28%.
  • FlyPost (within-author comparison, 116,000+ posts): −15 to −17% reactions.
  • LigoSocial (134,000 posts): −8%.
  • AuthoredUp (309,614 posts): last of five styles, 2.16% median engagement against 2.60% for stories.
  • Growtempo (12,988 posts): no significant difference.

What does better

First-person storytelling stands out (about +33% in two datasets, one within-author). A question at the end has a weak effect: −7% at FlyPost, near zero at AuthoredUp.

What to do

State first, ask at the end. If your question really is the best hook, keep it: the tool flags it as advice, never as a ban.

Paste your text in the editor, then tap “Check before copying”: flagged passages, one-click fixes, everything stays in your browser.
